2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ came into the world with the primary mission “…to seek and save the lost.” (Luke 19:10).

Through His death on the cross, Jesus paid the price with his own blood for the sins of humanity so that we could be reconciled to God.  Before He departed this world, Jesus commissioned his disciples everywhere to continue on with His ministry of reconciliation by spreading this world-changing message of salvation around the globe.

In each of our lives, God has supernaturally and strategically placed 8 to 15 or so people in our personal relational worlds to whom He plans to show them His love and share His good news through us.  In Greek, the word to describe our personal relational world is “oikos”, or extended household.

In Mark 5:19, Jesus said to the man he healed, “Go home to your family (oikos) and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”.  Through this example and many others, Jesus demonstrated his model for each of his followers to go and share the good news about Him starting with their, our, own households, or oikos.

At The Church on the Corner, we are committed to partnering with you to reach out to your own oikos with God’s Good News in the following ways:

  1. By helping you to discover who is in your own oikos.  Once you determine who your 8 to 15 are, write their names down so that you can begin praying for your world daily.
  2. By equipping you through special life skills workshops so that you can most effectively display God’s character to your oikos. As you begin to share your faith with those in your oikos, they will no doubt begin to watch your life more carefully to see if you are living out your own faith. Check our Growth Resources page to see our pathways to spiritual growth.
  3. By providing you with different ways to serve in our local church and community to ensure that our church is a place that is welcoming to your oikos and a place where you can continue to grow in your own faith walk with Jesus Christ!

If you would like to learn more about becoming a world-changer to your oikos, read the book “8 to 15 – The World is Smaller than You Think” by Tom Mercer which can be checked out of our church library.
